DO NOT Update Win7
Today (Dec. 12, 2014) we learned of problems with the most recent batch of monthly Microsoft Windows updates for Windows 7 (not 8). If they were not yet automatically applied please DO NOT APPLY the recent Microsoft Windows 7 updates. 2SS.Com currently has 4 to 6 affected systems that we are repairing, and a few PCs updated with no issues.
If
you have questions or
concerns about avoiding these updates please let us know, but barring that
note that this is unusual (2nd time this year) and that in
general it has been safe to trust and apply updates from Microsoft.
That said we do recommend, maybe bit more strongly than before
you consider setting your PC to
download but NOT apply updates
until
we choose to apply them. Those settings are easy to adjust and
are available at:

[Start] -> [Settings] -> [Control Panel] -> [Windows Update] -> [Change Settings] (at top left) and select in the drop-down 'Download updates but let me choose whether to install them the press -> [OK]
